COLIDROT-DS Syrup

Þ    COMPOSITION-

Each 5ml contains:

Drotaverine Hydrochloride IP 20mg

Flvoured Suspension Base q.s.

Þ    DESCRIPTION-

Drotaverine inhibits phosphodiesterase hydrolysing cAMP, thereby increasing cAMP concentration, decreasing Ca uptake of the cells and changing the distribution of calcium among the cells.

Þ    BENEFITS-

·         COLIDROT-DS is an antispasmodic medicine.

·         Treats abdominal pain in children.

·         Provides relief from pain associated with irritable bowel syndrome, intestinal or kidney stones or other gastrointestinal diseases.

Þ    DOSAGES-

It should be given to the child at a fixed time, either before or after food. If the child develops an upset stomach, it is best to be given with food.

Þ    SIDE-EFFECTS-

Can cause minor and temporary side effects like nausea, dry mouth, blurred vision, weakness and nervousness. The episode usually subsides once the child’s body adapts to the medicine.
